It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Reinhold Linnartz, who died peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends on April 24, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife Anita, his children Hans, Andreas, and Yvonne, and his grandchildren Dylan and Liam. He was predeceased by his son Olaf in 2010.
Reinhold was a gracious, considerate, artistic and comedic man who was loved and adored by many. He was born in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1927 and served in WW2 at the tender age of 16 years old. A talented photographer and videographer, he pursued a career in camera repair whilst immigrating to Canada in 1965 with his wife Anita and young child Andreas. While he dreamt of a life as a Hollywood filmmaker, he opted for a more stable career choice by working hard to become a skilled Optician and co-owner of Pro Optics Ltd. for almost 30 years. Reinhold was a man of many talents and enjoyed multiple hobbies such as making music on organs/keyboards, making highly entertaining family videos (back in a time when the process was much more complex than just pressing a button on the smartphone), and had a great passion for motorcycle riding. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he would take his young family camping, boating and waterskiing at every turn. Reinhold also possessed a wicked sense of humour that would not just break the ice but completely shatter it.
A celebration of Reinholds amazing life will take place at a later date and will be announced on his Facebook page, or email
