Rita Burton passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the age of 91 years. She will be dearly missed by her four children and their families: Richard Diane Burton of Cardiff, CA, Fred and Carole Burton of Lethbridge, AB, Nonie Glen Roelofs of Coaldale, AB and Susan Jerry Hobbs of Calgary; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: Max Duenna Palmer of California and Donald Val Palmer, of Cardston, AB; and many other relatives and friends. Rita was predeceased by her husband LaMaun Burton and a sister Norma Clelland.

Rita was born in Nova Scotia and lived for a short time in Boston prior to her family settling in Cardston, AB. She completed High School and married her sweetheart LaMaun Burton, who filled her life with magic music. They lived in Cardston for a period of time and then moved their family to Lethbridge and eventually to Calgary where they retired. Rita worked in Jewelry and other retail stores through her adult life. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings. She quietly persevered health difficulties with a positive attitude. Rita will be remembered for her beauty, her sense of humour and even more so as a wonderful mother and grandmother.

A Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Coach Hill Chapel (996 Stathcona Dr. SW, Calgary) on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00 am with visitation at the Church from 9:30 to 10:30 am. A Graveside service will be held at the Cardston, AB Cemetery at 4:00 pm.
