On Wednesday, March 9, 2022 Mr. Robert Wutzke of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the age of 68 years.
Robert was born and raised in Calgary. In the early years he worked for the bakery, was a roofer, and a commercial cleaner, before starting to work with the City of Calgary Parks Department. He spent many years working his way up to a Foreman position with the city before retiring. Robert had a great love of plants, especially growing tomatoes and flowers, which he still had many last summer. He was an avid member of the Calgary Dart League for many years. Robert organized many tournaments, and even went to Vegas to play darts. He enjoyed watching many sports, especially Sumo Wrestling and NASCAR. Robert made a point of going to Florida to watch Dale Ernhart race in one of his best races prior to Ernhart retiring from racing. He had no children but had a great love of family, especially his nieces and nephews which he treated as his own. Robert even passed on his love of the outdoors and fishing to them. He would spend every weekend he could in his younger years camping and fishing. Robert was thrilled to hear he was a great uncle in January. Unfortunately he never got to meet Cooper personally but saw many pictures, and Robert shared how much he loved our new little man. The last number of years Robert had dialysis three to four times a week, and he developed a great fondness for his nurses (Girls) whom he often bought flowers and gifts in thanks for all they did for him.
Robert is lovingly remembered and survived by his mother Klara Wutzke of Calgary; his siblings Edit Ross of Calgary, Edelgard and her husband Rick Heaslip of Calgary, Rosanne and her husband Jeff McAloon of Pollockville, Alberta; his special nieces and nephews Chelsea Heaslip of Vancouver, British Columbia, Morgan McAloon of Calgary, Chad Heaslip of Calgary, Justin McAloon and his partner Alyssa Thornhill of Brooks, Alberta; and great nephew Cooper McAloon of Brooks.
Robert was predeceased his father, Eduard Wutzke.
Robert did not want a formal funeral, and his wishes were to be cremated. The family requests that in lieu of floral tributes, please consider to make a donation in Robert’s memory to the Kidney Foundation,
