Ronald James Waller Jr. was born on September 6, 1942, in Calgary, Alberta, to Elizabeth & Ron Waller. On December 1, 2023, Ron passed away at home with his beloved wife, Diana, at his side at the age of 81.
Ron and Diana shared 60 beautiful years of marriage, and built a loving family in the community of Inglewood. Ron had many passions in his life, but the most important ones were his family and his noteworthy career with the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Ron is survived by his 3 children; Steven Waller (Karen Klein), Rhonda Waller (Bruce Werry), and Teresa Grasby, all residing in Calgary. He has also left a lasting legacy through his grandchildren; Jenna-Lee Klein-Waller (Daniel), Jesse Klein-Waller (Natalie), Jake Klein-Waller, Logan Grasby, Luke Grasby, and Emma Kundert (Kody). As well, he was blessed with 2 great-grandchildren, Remy Klein-Waller and Bonnie Kundert.
Ron is also survived by his brother Gary Waller (Judy), who reside in Blind Bay, BC, and his youngest brother, Raymond Waller (Heather), also from Blind Bay.
Ron started at the Canadian Pacific Railway right out of high school and dedicated his life to shaping a remarkable career until his retirement in 1992. Over the years, he trained and worked with many men who still revere and respect him.
A man of diverse interests, Ron found joy in strumming his guitar by the campfire, impromptu performances on the piano, navigating the waters on his sweetheart of a boat, Madge, and showing his competitive spirit in curling and golf. His passions not only reflected his love for music and the outdoors, but also brought friends together, new and old. Ron was most certainly a people person.
As well as residing in Calgary all his life, Ron spent many fun-filled summers in little cabin #6 on the Shuswap. His memory will live on through the melodies he played, the laughter shared around the campfire, and the warmth of family gatherings.
By honouring Ron Waller’s life, we celebrate the rich tapestry of experiences he wove into the lives of those who knew him and those who loved him most. May he rest in peace with his joyful spirit living on in the hearts of family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held for Ronald at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
