Roy William Davidson passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at the age of 85 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Renee Hoyle and Ben Beans of Calgary AB, Robert Davidson (Sandy) of Penticton BC, and his family in Ontario, BC, Quebec and the USA. His grandchildren, Keaton Hoyle (Renee and Sean), Jeret, Keyly and Brenn Davidson (Bob and Sandy), alongside many great-grandchildren. Roy was predeceased by his best friend and wife, Barbara May Davidson; his mother, Irene Cecile Davidson (nee Bamagesic); his father, Benjamin Davidson; siblings, Florence Spry (Ron) and Ilene Belisle (William), as well as his beloved dog, Spike aka “Spikers”.
Roy was born on St Joseph Island, ON to Irene and Benjamin Davidson later moving to Calgary. AB. It was there he met the love of his life Barbara Davidson.
Roy spent some time in service with the Merchant Marines and in his later years, Roy became a scrap metal dealer, who undoubtedly became highly respected and well known throughout the industry.
Roy was an avid hockey fan, whose favorite team was the Chicago Blackhawks. He was a fun-loving man and a prankster who could always make people laugh. Roy would always refer to himself as “Roy Davidson with a capital “D”.
After losing his wife Barbara on January 18, 2018 Roy was never the same. His love for Barb never wavered. He would visit “Mom”, as he called her on an almost daily basis, even when he couldn’t walk or drive, he would ask for someone to drive him to The Garden of Peace to say hello to her, tell her he loved her or drop a rose for her.
Together, in arms of heaven they reunite for the next phase of their journey together.
