Rudy Macks passed away on Thursday, October 26th at the age of 90 years young. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy; Son Shane Macks (Noree); daughter Linda Goh; Sister Margaret Buschau; and many more family and friends. He was predeceased by his immigrant parents Adolph & Mary Macks and siblings Emma Sollner, Anne Young, Alfred, Sigmund, and Reinhardt. Rudy was born and raised in the Plumas district, Manitoba. At 16 he left home and headed west to be a cowboy. He worked at a number of ranches big and small across Western Canada. In his thirties he moved to Calgary and began work at Canada Packers, staying 32 years. He married Dorothy Smithson and were blessed with one son Shane Raymond. Rudy loved hunting, fishing and camping. He was excellent marksman and a long time member of two rifle & pistol clubs. The family would like to express their gratitude for the staff of Units 93 and 84 at the Rocky View Hospital for their excellent care. A memorial service will be held for Rudy at Forest Lawn United Church (2236 – 35 Street SE, Calgary) on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 1:30 pm. If friends so desire, a donation may be made to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the Kidney Foundation.
