Ruperto Nedic Aragon

March 2, 1939 — January 20, 2025

Calgary, Alberta

Ruperto Nedic Aragon passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Ruperto was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of everyone he met.

Born on March 2, 1939, in Oaqui, Luna La Union, Philippines, Ruperto was the son of Carlos and Salome Aragon and the eldest of seven children. Ruperto is survived by his siblings Antonio, Artemio, Josue, Jose and Virginia. He was predeceased by his brothers Victorino and Tomas. Ruperto leaves behind his loving wife, Francisca, and their three children, Ruperto Jr. (Luzviminda), Neil (Julie) and Florence (Cameron). He was also the proud grandfather of nine beloved grandchildren: Cassidy, Micah, Delaney, Zoey, Dinara, Eliana, Annelisa, Amariah, and Gabriella.

In August 1975, Ruperto moved to Ontario, Canada. After a brief separation from his family, he was reunited with them in November 1975, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The family stayed in Winnipeg until 1979, before heading west to Saskatoon, where Ruperto was working for Westeel-Rosco. In 1980, Ruperto and Francisca made the decision to move to Calgary, where he continued working as a Civil/Structural draftsman in the oil and gas industry.

Ruperto’s work ethic was unmatched. He officially retired at 65 but then went back just six months later and continued working until the age of 70 simply because he truly enjoyed the work. Ruperto often reminisced about the long 16-hour workdays, taking immense pride in his work. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ruperto cherished time with his family and friends, creating memories filled with joy and laughter. His passions included golf, tennis, and swimming; activities he often enjoyed with his grandchildren. A skilled golfer, he won numerous awards for golf. He also loved traveling and when asked, Ruperto spoke of his favourite trip to the Jordan River, where he was baptized, following in the footsteps of Jesus - a moment that filled him with profound spiritual joy.

Ruperto’s kindness, warmth, generosity and steadfast love for his family and friends will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
