Mary Jean was born in Cardston, Alberta and moved to Fernie and then to Cranbrook where she attended High School. Much of her life was spent in Calgary, with some time in Strathmore. Her life was rich & colourful and included being married four times! She was Mary Jean Barrett, Pecusik, Vause, and Schmidt. She loved all kinds of music and was a talented dancer. She was a great cook and baked the best bread. She had a love of nature, enjoying plants and flowers, and especially trees. Of all the wonderful colours out there, pink and yellow were her favourites. Mary Jean made new friends easily and held many dear friends very close. She was affectionate, sentimental, funny and the best person to talk to if you had problems. Later in life she served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oregon and Utah. The Church was central to her life. Mary Jean was burdened with Alzheimer’s and became a resident at Age Care Sagewood in Strathmore for the last five years. She was a loved resident and received exceptional care. More than anything, she was a loving Mother and friend who will be missed more than words can say.
A Funeral Service will be held for Mary Jean at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Heritage Chapel (935 Heritage Drive SW, Calgary) on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 11:00 am with a visitation from 10:00 to 10:45 am, prior to the service.
