KLOOSTERMAN, Shirley (nee Leavitt) April 29, 1943 December 5, 2012 Our beautiful, gracious Shirley passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on December 5, 2012. Predeceased by her parents Dean Leavitt and Nedra Woolf, she is survived by her beloved husband Cornelius Kloosterman; her dearly loved children Kevin (Stacie) of Sycamore, Illinois, and Avril Lynn of Calgary; and her grandchildren Anna, Tommy and John Kloosterman, all of Sycamore, Illinois. She is also survived by her sister DeAnne Lund; brothers Brad (Joyce) Leavitt and Greg (Martine) Leavitt; and all her beloved nieces and nephews. Shirley was born to wonderful parents on April 29, 1943, in Cardston, and lived on the Alfred Leavitt farmstead in Leavitt, Alberta, until she was three years old. The family then moved to Cardston and finally to Calgary when she was six. Shirley attended Henderson Business College to become a secretary. Before she married, she worked for different companies and enjoyed her brief career. When she was young, Shirley took dance classes and always had a great love for dance. As a church dance instructor, she taught a variety of dance styles. She married Cornelius in 1966. They spent some time at Brigham Young University where her husband finished his degree. Those were fun and inspiring times for them. They made their home in Calgary and started raising their family. Shirley’s greatest desire was to be a mother. She always knew her children were a gift from God and her greatest possession, and when her grandchildren came along, her life seemed complete. Shirley was always active in her beloved Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many opportunities to serve in the church, including on Primary and Relief Society presidencies, and as a Ward and Stake missionary. She treasured her pioneer ancestors and was proud to be a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Shirley expressed many times her gratitude for the overwhelming love, prayers and tender care she received from her beloved husband, daughter, son, relatives and friends. She and her family were so grateful for the care she received from Dr. Quartero, Dr. Temple and the nurses and staff of the Foothills and Rockyview hospitals, and the Foothills Country Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sundance Chapel, 100 Sunpark Drive SE, on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
