Siegfried Ritter

Siegfried Ritter, affectionately known as "Sig," passed away peacefully at home in Calgary on September 26, 2024, at the age of 60. Born on February 2, 1964, Sig’s journey through life was one marked by an infectious charm, radiant kindness, and an unforgettable sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him.

From a young age, Sig was encouraged by his father to explore the world of hard work. Growing up on a farm, he was always able to find something to tinker with- whether it be a tractor or other machinery. This hobby one day evoked a passion for automotive work. This led him to blossom into a remarkable career as an astounding Automotive Body Man. His talent and dedication illuminated his work, and he took great pride in reviving classic cars to their former glory.

Throughout his career, Sig forged lasting relationships, most notably with his best friend for life, Norm Semeniuk. The bond they shared while working together for over 40+ years was a testament to their loyalty and camaraderie. During those 40+ years, they entrusted one another to become business partners for nearly 10 years. The brotherly bond they always shared- in work, in friendship, and in life, will forever remain for the rest of time.

Sig had a personality that was truly one of a kind. His funny and off-beat sense of humour could turn even the dullest of days into a delightful experience. While his tongue was often witty with sarcasm, he was also gifted with a kind and giving soul. Those who encountered Sig often found comfort and warmth in his charisma, even when met with a quick-witted response.

Outside of his work, Sig enjoyed outdoor adventures, particularly hunting. He cherished every moment spent amidst nature and was immensely proud of his most recent accomplishment: capturing a long sought after moose on his last hunting trip. This triumph, along with his exceptional skills in restoring vehicles, exemplified Sig’s love for the craft and the thrill of adventure.

Family was essential to Sig, and he leaves behind his beloved sister, Renate, who holds cherished memories of their time together. His extended family - his 'brother' Norm (Trish) - along with their two children, Robert (Kaitlyn) and Mikayla (Tanner) were also very dear to him. Sig’s affection extended to his best furry friend, Mia, whose unconditional love and companionship brightened his days and created countless joyful moments.

Sig’s presence in this world will be profoundly missed. As we remember him, let us celebrate his life filled with laughter, adventure, and love. The memories and joy he shared with all who were lucky enough to know him will continue to inspire and warm our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Sig; your spirit lives on in the stories we tell and the love we share.
