Stella Helen Komarevich

It is with great sadness that the family of Stella Komarevich announces her passing on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the age of 92 years.

Stella was born and raised in Calgary. In her youth she loved reading, Ukrainian dancing and playing the violin. She met her loving husband Mike through mutual friends and they were married for 65 years before his passing in 2021. As a teenager she began dreaming of running her own business and in 1971, Mike and Stella opened Komarevich Originals Ltd., which carried Mike’s unique hand-crafted jewellery as well as fossils, crystals and a plethora of treasures from around the world. Mike made the jewellery while Stella passionately ran all other facets of the business with military precision. Their son, Michael Jr. continues the Komarevich Originals legacy at trade shows and frequent pop-up sales.

Stella will be remembered for her energy, never backing down from a challenge and her attention to detail. Her favourite expression was, “I’m not bossy, I’m the Boss!” She loved her family fiercely and nothing made her happier than getting together for family dinners at home, the casino buffet and Las Vegas! She adored her children and grandchildren and always spoke with great pride about them.

Stella is survived by her son Michael and wife Robyn, grandson Mesa, granddaughter Selena and husband Mushfiq, daughter Cynthia Beare and her sister Mary Wilson and family in Vancouver.

In keeping with her wishes, Stella will be cremated. Please join Stella’s family for a Happy Hour Celebration of her Life on Tuesday, November 7 at the Holiday Inn Express – 2373 Banff Tr. NW, Calgary @ 5:00 PM. No flowers please. If desired, raise a toast to Stella to remember her in your own special way!
