One of Suzanne’s final wishes was to have a short obituary. Sorry mom, not a chance.
It is with profound sorrow, but also a firm knowledge of the eternities that lie beyond, that the family of Suzanne Truba announces her passing on the evening of Monday, June 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Suzanne was born in Cardston, Alberta, on June 26, 1943, to Joseph and Hilda Thomas. She was the second of four children. Her sisters, Lin and Toni, and brother, Brent, would be among her closest friends and supporters throughout her life. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Josh Truba (Karla) and Ashley Anderson (James), her siblings, as well as her six grandchildren, Sofia, Aynsley, Ellery, Rio, Levi, and Maria.
Suzanne was predeceased by her parents, Hilda and Joe Thomas.
At the fearless age of 25, in 1968, she started her clothing business which operated for 55 years. She worked closely with her sister, Toni, the entire time. Suzanne had a special way with people and built enduring friendships over her decades in the business. While Suzanne took on many roles and responsibilities in life, Suzanne was, first and foremost, a mother to her twins, Josh and Ashley. Suzanne sacrificed much for her kids. She taught them well, and with her mother Hilda by her side, raised them in a wonderful home full of love. In her later years, her six grandkids became her great passion in life. She was as committed a grandmother as you could find, all while continuing to run her business.
Most significant to mom was her deep faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served diligently in any task she was asked to perform, and in doing so, touched the lives of many throughout her service to the Lord. As was the case in her professional life, Suzanne made lasting friendships at church that will be dear to her forever. Nothing meant more to Suzanne than striving to be a disciple of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved Him. Perhaps the greatest gift she gave to her kids, and grandkids, was her sure witness of Christ’s love for them.
Suzanne loved tennis; watching it and playing it. Her weekly lesson with Garcia, and games with Ashley or Brent, were highlights of her week. She played her last on May 1st of this year. When confronted with a difficult final few weeks here on earth, she faced it in the same way that she faced so many challenges throughout her life; courageously, and without complaint.
The family would like to give a very epic thank you to all the nurses and doctors in Unit 71 at the Rockyview Hospital, and at the Salvation Army Agape Hospice. They were all so wonderful to Suzanne throughout her final three weeks.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in Suzanne’s memory to The Salvation Army Agape Hospice (
