Valentine went home suddenly on Friday December 25, 2020 in Calgary. Val leaves behind her husband, Barry; children, Dwight and Francine; adopted son, Elroy; grandchildren, Sade Ivory Kiana Draven, Stacie, Jesse, Tiala, Christopher, Lily, Nathaniel, Carrie-Joy, Anthony and Randy; sisters, Vera, Kathleen, Justine and Pearl; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Val was born at Kainai Indian Hospital to Charlie and Louise Panther Bone. She was one of her grandmother, Isabelle’s favourite grandchildren – a position she shared with her sister, Margaret. Val never let her other sisters forget. She loved to cook, bake and sew, always having a couple projects on the go at the same time. Her door was always open for company from family and friends.
Val had many jobs throughout her life including caregiver, seamstress, carpet layer, physiotherapist, drycleaner, various jobs in Edmonton. She worked for the Calgary Sears and Helping Hand Temp Agency. Out of all her jobs, her most important and loved position was being a mom, wife, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
Val was predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Louise Panther Bone; her son, Anthony (Tony) Himmelspeck; grandchildren, Louise and Dominic; her siblings, Margaret Morning Owl, Eva Spotted Bull, Emma Many Feathers, Micheal Panther Bone, Cecile WolfChild, Ruth Panther Bone and Kenneth Panther Bone; lastly her aunts and uncles, Jim Takes The Gun Strong, Albert and Winnie Panther Bone, Walter and Margaret Hindman, Teddy Brave Rock, Fanny White Quills and Gladys Buckskin.
Val’s family would like to thank the doctors, paramedics and staff at Peter Lougheed Hospital for all their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation/ Wake Service will be held for Val at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Friday January 8 between the hours of 3:00pm and 9:00pm. Please note: Due to gathering restrictions, there will be a limit of 10 people permitted into the funeral home at one time.
The Funeral Ceremony will take place at the same location on Saturday January 9, 2021 at 10:00 am.
Graveside Service will be at Queen’s Park Cemetery following the ceremony.
