Verna Lillian Longman

July 17, 1932 — November 11, 2024

Calgary, Alberta

On Monday, November 11, 2024 Mrs. Verna Lillian Longman of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 92 years.

Verna was born and grew up in Hardisty, Alberta. Along with her husband Les, they owned Alberta Propane and a service station with a diner. Verna enjoyed watching the store camera to see who was entering and exiting the store. Verna was an independent woman whose main concern was for the welfare of her children. In her younger years she enjoyed curling and square dancing. In her later years Verna took a liking to go to the casino where she looked for the machine with the shamrock. She moved to the Bethany Care where she found lasting friendships for over 21 years. Even at the Bethany one of her favorite things to do was to watch people enter and exit the building through the building camera.

Verna is survived by four sons Garry (Vel) Longman of Daysland, Alberta, Myles (Jessica) Longman of Calgary, Michael (Wendy) Longman of Red Deer, Alberta, Royce (Virginia) Longman of Calgary; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Verna was predeceased by her husband Leslie Longman in 2006, and two daughters Kerri Longman in 1999, and Jo Ann Longman in 2017.

Graveside will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024 from Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery, 243208 Garden Road, Calgary, Alberta.
