SMITH, Vernil Henry “Smitty” March 19, 1917 – August 18, 2014 Vernil H. Smith (Smitty) born in Granum, Alberta on March 19, 1917 passed away peacefully at the age of 97 years on August 18, 2014. He was predeceased by his wife of fifty-six years, Blanche, in 1995. He is survived by his sons Gary and Dianne of Redcliff and Marvin and Pat of Calgary, his four grandchildren Greg (Sam), Todd (Charlotte), Barbara (Doug), and Donna (Kevin), and 9 great grandchildren. The family expresses their deep gratitude to his loving friend and companion Helen McKeage and her family and to the staff at Walden Heights Age Care.
