Victor Raju passed away surrounded by family on Monday, March 9, 2020 at the age of 63 years. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Sheila; children Justin (Kathleen), Crystal, and Sheldon (Kendra); parents James and Chandra Rosie Raju; siblings Samson (Rohina), Juliet (Lawrence), Richard (Teresa); nieces and nephews; his granddaughter Ava Raju and his furry grandbabies Yoshi, Prince, and Lily. His brother Gerick predeceased him.
Victor was born and raised in Ba, Fiji; he came to Calgary in 1976 and married the love of his life, Sheila, in 1977. He was a self-employed mechanic, and then enjoyed his career as a driver. He had a passion for cars and an absolute love for his Cadillac Escalade. He played semi pro soccer for the Calgary Boomers in the late 70’s, known for his left foot strike. He enjoyed watching soccer, hockey, and tennis. His other passion was cooking and entertaining for the family. Among his large family, he could always remember each individual’s favourite dish and was a wonderful chef! He had an enormous heart and lived life to the max. He did things his way, no rules or boundaries. His larger than life spirit will be dearly missed by all.
A Funeral Service will be held for Victor at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 17 Ave SE, Calgary) on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 1:00 pm, with graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 4 St NW). If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of Victor to a homeless shelter of your choice.
