Victorio "Victor" Adarne Gutierrez

Victorio “Victor” Adarne Gutierrez, 63, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta, after a long battle with cancer.

Born on December 23, 1960, to Florencio and Rosa Gutierrez in Bukidnon, Philippines, Victor’s life was marked by hard work, dedication, and love.

After graduating in mechanics in the Philippines, Victor moved to Canada to provide a better life for his family. He dedicated himself to a 27-year career at Transcontinental Printing, Canada’s largest printing company, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. 

Victor was adamant about living life to the fullest. Victor loved spending time with his family and friends, as well as the family yorki-poo, Dobby. He was a practical joker with a generous heart of gold. He never hesitated to let people know that he loved them.

Anyone who knew Victor was touched by his kindness, humour, and fun-loving temperament. He was truly the life of the party and always a source of laughter. He never said no to a good time and knew how to throw a memorable Filipino party, filled with delicious food and lechon (traditional roasted suckling pig). Even during his illness, Victor found time to be with his loved ones and friends, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to those he cared about.

Victor will be lovingly remembered by his spouse, Marilyn Duhaylungsod; his children, Vincent Gutierrez, Theresa Gutierrez, and Shawn Gutierrez; brothers, Constantino, Raymundo, Bernard, Vencent, Victor; sisters, Antonina, Marilou, Josefa, and Nora; and the mother of his children, Milagros Gutierrez. He was predeceased by his parents, Florencio and Rosa; brothers, Anecito and Mateo.

Victor's legacy of love, joy, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A Public Visitation will be held for Victor at Pierson’s Funeral Service - Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta) on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with prayers starting at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Victor at St. Anthony's Catholic Church (5340 - 4 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta) on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. Immediately following the funeral mass, a procession will take place starting at St. Anthony’s Church going to the crematorium. All are welcome to attend.
