Warren "Keith" Kunkel passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the age of 83 years. He will be dearly missed by his wife Gail Kunkel; two children Tamara Kunkel of Red Deer and Tara Kunkel (Mario Sosa) of Calgary; two grandchildren Luca and Shiloh; two brothers Lloyd Kunkel and Ralph Kunkel; two sisters Eileen Barton and Donna Jensen; and a much larger extended family.
Keith was predeceased by a sister Betty and two brothers Roger and Larry.
Keith was born in Rosemary, Alberta. At a young age, the family moved to Pincher Creek where he attended much of his school. As a young man, he moved to Fort McMurray to be close to a brother. It was here where he met the love of his life Gail and they were married in 1974. They moved to Edmonton where they lived for a few years and then to Kimberly, BC for a short year and a half, and then down the road to Cranbrook where they lived for over 30 years. In 2018, they moved to Calgary where they could be closer to family.
Keith entered the trades while he was in Fort McMurray and became a life long painter. He also took on many other jobs throughout his working years. He was a good natured man who loved to tell stories and jokes, some repeatedly. He was kind and helpful to all. Music was important to Keith and he would sing in any choir he could, both at Church and in the community. He would also sing around the home and anywhere there was an opportunity. Keith had a love of reading, especially history, which provided him with a wealth of world knowledge. Watching sports including golf, football, baseball and curling was a favourite past-times. A good game of crib was something else he loved. Spending time with friends was important. Keith also loved the outdoors including star gazing. He loved spending time with his family, which was important to him, especially with his wife Gail and their two daughters. It was important to have a snack to enjoy anytime he was hanging out. Keith is much loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life for Keith will be held in the spring of 2025. Cremation at Foothills Crematorium.
