Wayne Linden Akin

October 11, 1930 — May 7, 2012

AKIN, Reverend Wayne Linden October 11, 1930 May 7, 2012 Wayne, 81, peacefully went to the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 7, 2012, after a long illness at Rocky View Hospital. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Esther; his children Lynda Bauer, Joel, and Steve (Shirley); his grandchildren Matthew, Christina, and Joshua; his sister Wilma as well as many nieces and nephews. Wayne was born in Gratoit County, Michigan, served in the US Army in Japan and went on to become a Pastor in 1955. His passions were church planting, his family and going for coffee with friends. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and his great love for God and others. He never met a stranger and encouraged countless people throughout his life. Family and Friends are invited to attend a visitation at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 17 Avenue SE) on Thursday, May 10, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Service to be held at Pierson’s Garden of Peace Chapel (243208 Garden Road NE or 16 Ave and Garden Road/100 St NE) on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11:00 am with interment to follow.
