Winona Techentin
March 23, 1945 — February 3, 2023
It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Winona “Happy” Techentin (nee Merrick).
Winona leaves to mourn her passing by her son Paul Techentin; son-in-law Brian Koenen; sisters Memory Merrick, Shirlee Merrick; brother Ralph Merrick; her sister in-law Kristina Smith of Nova Scotia; mother-in-law Lucy Techentin of Nova Scotia; as well as brother-in-law Werner and Melissa of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years Klaus Techentin; daughter Michele Stephen; and parents Flora and Angus Merrick.
Winona lived a life of many great accomplishments. She was a beautiful person and “Happy” in everything she did.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Pierson’s Funeral Chapel, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta. Cremation has taken place at the Foothills Crematorium. If relatives and friends so desire, memorials may be made in Winona’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (
