Zachary Earle Lawrence

After a courageous battle with cancer Zachary Lawrence passed away with his wife by his side on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the age of 61 years.

Zachary was born in Winnipeg and raised in Transcona MB. He lived with his sister in Whitehorse YK for a period of time and then he settled in Calgary AB.  In 2014 he met his future wife and they enjoyed 9 loving years.

Zach loved the gym especially lifting weights. His office proudly displays a few of his trophies from his weightlifting competitions, he also made many friends at the gym who are still a part of his life.

As a young man Zach discovered the joy of riding the open road on 2 wheels. Zach was very proud of his last motorcycle a 105th  Anniversary Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide. Lorilee also enjoyed being a passenger on the bike and the 2 of them took many rides including participating in a few fundraising rides.

Even though Zach was a loyal Riders fan he was also a Stampeders season ticket holder. The rivalry between the Riders (Zach) and the Stampeders (Lorilee) made game day in the Lawrence household interesting.

Zach was a member of a 12-step program and these members were also a big part of his life outside of the program.

Zach retired from the City of Calgary in 2021 and was a lifetime member of CUPE 37 where over his time he held many positions.

Zach loved to travel and has been to many hot destinations but one of his favourite vacation spots was spending time at the family cottage in Winnipeg Beach. This is where his ashes will be spread.

Zach made friends easily and many of these friends enjoyed meals at his table during any special occasion. After these meals there usually was a game of UNO where the rules were that Zach had to win and he considered everyone else who played a cheater.

Zach you will be dearly missed by your loving wife Lorilee, your family and friends.

Rest Easy your pain is gone.

Zach is the son of Douglas Lawrence and the late Donna Lawrence (Reid)

Zach is survived by his wife, Lorilee; his step sons Derek and Joe Phillips His sister Marilyn Lawrence and his brother Stephen (Lorie) Lawrence He is uncle to many nieces and nephews but a very special uncle to Andrew Lawrence Glada, Tennaigha Lawrence Glada and Shannon Skookum Zach was predeceased by his sister Patricia and his brother Richard

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Agape Hospice for the wonderful care that Zach got in his final days.
